Young Farmer Committee
The Young Farmer Committee has the responsibility to provide opportunities for leadership development, actively participate in the programs of their organization, and to plan and carry out a program of activities that will involve, by direct participation, a maximum number of young farmers as an integral part of the entire Farm Bureau program.
Policy Development Committee
The Policy Development Committee has the responsibility to develop Farm Bureau policy recommendations on local, state, and national issues by encouraging the study and discussion of issues by all Farm Bureau members. The committee will also consider options obtained from resource persons and information obtained from research and draft a slate of well-considered policy recommendations to be presented for consideration by members at the county annual meeting in September.
Promotion and Education Committee
The committee will carry out programs and projects for all Farm Bureau members, which could include health and safety; leadership training; agriculture in the classroom; current issues; commodity promotions and consumer education. The Promotion and Education (P&E) Committee has the responsibility of providing educational opportunities and experiences for Farm Bureau members and selected non-members (students, consumer, potential members, and others) to the end that Farm Bureau and agriculture are benefited.
Nominating Committee
Will select nominees to run for the vacant positions on the County Board of Directors. This committee goal is to add other individuals from outside organizations, such as MSU Extension, Soil Conservation to also help surface individuals who would make good board members. This committee will begin meeting mid-June to surface possible candidates and begin contact for County Annual in September.
Public Policy Committee
The Public Policy Committee has the responsibility to support and execute Farm Bureau policies, as established and adopted by Farm Bureau members, and to maintain regular contact with state and federal legislators and their staff.
County Issues Committee
The County Issues Committee has the responsibility of identifying and addressing county issues that affect agriculture on a local basis. The committee should represent agriculture and Farm Bureau on local, township and county issues and lead initiatives that increase the relationships with township and county officials.
Communication Committee
The role of the Communication Committee is to help inform and educate the general, non-farming public about current agricultural issues (through local print and broadcast media), and to communicate county Farm Bureau news to members (through a county newsletter).
Communication committees work with local media (newspapers, radio, television) to reach the public, with press releases, opinion pieces and photography. They solicit media coverage of agricultural and FB issues, and act as reporters when media can't meet such requests, contributing coverage of issues and events as warranted. County newsletters keep members informed about county FB activities and issues.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee has the responsibility to plan and conduct the annual county membership campaign. This membership campaign should ensure continued membership growth in the county by retaining previous years' members and acquiring new members for the current year. This task should be accomplished by maximizing the involvement of current members to spread the workload and ensure that contacts to non-members are as far-reaching in the county as possible.
Scholarship Committee
This committee will interview and review all applications received by members for the county sponsored scholarship. Applications are received at the end of May each year and a decision is due by the end of June. A report is then issued to the Board of Directors for approval.
